With the digitalisation of mobility, we now face a historic revolution: electric, networked and autonomous driving. This gives mobility a whole new dimension, it is developing into mobility 4.0. The car becomes a further food point next to office and home. Driving is evolving from the purposeful necessity to a new, productive time window. Real-time data communication between cars and infrastructure makes traffic predictable and avoids traffic jams and accidents. By networking with the environment, vehicles become fully-digitalised mobility, information and communication platforms. Above all, the market potential for the networked vehicle is growing and growing. If it amounts to just under 32 billion euros in 2015, it will nearly quadruple by 2020 at 115 billion euros. The segments of safety and autonomous driving have the greatest share of this boom. Safety systems such as emergency braking and track assistants are expected to increase from 12 billion to more than 47 billion, while functions such as parking assistance or motorway assistance will increase from 7 billion to 36 billion euros.
